The 2013 MLB World Series live stream and televised games begin on Wednesday night, with Game 1 set to take place in Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox will host the first game with the visiting St. Louis Cardinals looking to win their second World Series title in three seasons. John Lester and Adam Wainright will make the starts for their respective teams, with the game set to be televised for U.S. fans on FOX, with live stream available for international fans.
A Fox Sports report from Oct. 21 indicates that this is the first time since 1999 that the American League and National League teams with the best records for their leagues will meet in the World Series. The two teams last met in 2004, when the Boston Red Sox swept the Cardinals four games to zero. The only player remaining from that series for the Sox is David Ortiz, aka "Big Papi," who could be a big part of this year's series as well. If the Sox win, it will make for Ortiz's third World Series title during his highlight-reel career.
If the Cardinals win, it's their third World Series title since 2006. Their franchise has won 11 of them, dating back to the mid-twenties, although the names and faces continue to change. Among the potential heroes this year are Carlos Beltran, Michael Wacha, Yadier Molina and Matt Halliday. The Cardinals earned a return trip to the series, their second in three seasons, after defeating the highly-favored LA Dodgers in the 2013 NLCS.
On the flipside, Boston won their ALCS series against the Detroit Tigers, 4 games to 2. Some would say that Detroit entered that matchup with the better pitching staff, but in the end, the Red Sox bullpen prevailed over that of the Tigers. There may have been a bit of Boston magic involved too, with huge hits and scoring coming from heroes like Big Papi and Shane Victorino.
So with Game 1 on the way, the question for the series becomes, who will be the major heroes deciding which team takes home the pennant in 2013? Will it come down to the pitching, the batting, or a little of both? Fans are waiting to find out the answers as this exciting series gets ready to start.
Tonight's 2013 MLB World Series Game 1 has a start time scheduled for 8:07 p.m. EST. FOX will broadcast the game in standard and hi-definition for TV viewers on cable or satellite. The live streaming of the World Series is available to international subscribers of the MLB Postseason TV service. See more information here for how to watch online.
