Red Sox to give Dale Sveum a second interview

Gordon Edes at ESPN Boston is reporting that Dale Sveum will be in Milwaukee on Tuesday for a second interview with Ben Cherington as well as John Henry, Tom Werner and Larry Lucchino.  According to Edes:

At this stage, Sveum is believed to be the only candidate who has been invited to Milwaukee, reinforcing the notion that he is the preferred choice of Cherington, who has raved about him to associates after Sveum's interview and dinner with the staff that night.

After retiring as a player in 1999, Sveum has served as a manager for the Pittsburgh Pirates Double A team from 2001-2003 (and was named the Eastern League's "Top Managerial Prospect" by Baseball America in 2003), then as the Red Sox third base coach under Terry Francona from 2004-2005 before signing on with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006 as a bench coach and then third base coach.  In 2008, he was the interim manager for the Brewers when the team fired Ned Yost in September of that season.  Since 2009, he's been the team's batting coach.

There are murmurings of another of the five candidates getting a second interview this week but, so far, no names have been mentioned.
