With all the talk about much of the pitching staff not focusing enough time on their conditioning this season (see the whole beer and chicken debacle) it shouldn't come as a surprise that strength and conditioning coach Dave Page was fired this week along with assistant trainer Greg Barajas.
According to Peter Abraham at the Boston Globe, Page was surprised by his firing, expecting that if it was going to happen it would have come sooner than November.
Page is disappointed but doesn't hold it against the players, even saying that Kevin Youkilis and Jonathan Papelbon are "less than pleased" about his termination.
This afternoon at 12:30pm, Page is scheduled to be on the Mut & Merloni show on WEEI radio presumably to discuss his firing and maybe dish some more dirt on his way out the door.
