Red Rock Rendezvous 2013 presented by Mountain Gear in April (Photos)

The Red Rock Rendezvous 2013 presented by Mountain Gear will be on April 5-7, 2013, at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the 10th year anniversary for the country’s largest outdoor climbing festival. There are clinics for climbers of all skill levels and many opportunities to mingle with some world-class instructor athletes.

Red Rock Canyon is located 15 miles west of Las Vegas and offers an estimated 1,700 different climbing routes of all grades and lengths. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA) is administered by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Most of the climbing at Red Rock, with exception of a few canyons and crags, is accessible via NV Highway 159 and a one-way scenic loop road that begins at the National Conservation Area Visitor Center.

Participants have a chance to choose from several different clinics with registration. Some of the clinics offered include: multi-pitch climbing (intermediate), mountain biking, Uclimb (beginner), self/rock rescue, wilderness first aid, intro to sport climbing, aid climbing, footwork and techniques, intro to bouldering, easy trad for beginners, and many more.

The American Alpine Institute, one of the primary sponsors of the Red Rock Rendezvous, will be back and have some of their best guides on hand running some of the clinics. Kate Rutherford, who just recently returned from Patagonia where she climbed several routes on Fitz Roy, will be in attendance. Conrad Anker, The North Face athlete and one of America’s greatest climber adventurers, is also slated to teach some clinics and present a slide show.

Not only will there be fantastic clinics and slide shows at the event, but there will be Dyno competitions; the Red Rock Rendezvous bash with a live auction, silent auction and live music; and a pancake eating contest as well. An all-you-can-eat buffet dinner sponsored by The North Face will be on Saturday night.

Red Rock Rendezvous is the place to be on April 5-7, 2013. This rendezvous is worth your time and can do nothing but help your climbing technique and give you a chance to meet some great people. From beginners to the pros, the Red Rock Rendezvous is for anyone even the slightest bit interested in climbing. Climbing, beautiful scenery, great food, and fun are definitely fantastic ways to spend a weekend. Get registered for the Red Rock Rendezvous now as clinics fill up fast.
