According to Director Andrew Bemis, “American movies tend to be very sexually repressed; sex is usually only presented as sordid or titillating”.
If you agree, than you definitely want to check out the New Hampshire premier of Bemis's debut film "Black Light" this Friday April 29, 2011 at 8:00 PM.
Written and directed by NH native and Mookymen founder, Andrew Bemis, “Black Light” is the story of Nikki Blue (AVN award winner Bella Vendetta) a dancer at Club Castaway, a strip club hidden along a back road in rural New England. Further down the road, Alice (Jessica Conger), a burnt-out, neurotic college grad with no particular ambitions, spends her days working at a roadside fossil and rock shop. When Nikki and Alice meet, a friendship begins that could change their lives forever. A DIY independent movie filmed entirely in western Massachusetts, Black Light is a sweet, sexy romantic comedy about finding love in the middle of nowhere.
Bemis stated, “Black Light is very frank about sex and female sexuality in particular; it's a movie that aspires to what Anais Nin called ‘the united beat of sex and heart.’ And it's also a heartfelt romantic comedy with two lead actresses, Bella Vendetta and Jessica Conger, who give fearless performances as Nikki and Alice. Together we wanted to make a movie that would present love and sex in a more honest way than we're used to seeing. Black Light is a labor of love and, hopefully, a funny, sexy and entertaining night at the movies.”
Bemis adds, “Also, if you bring a date, you'll probably get lucky afterwards.”
