The “Red October” Air Yeezy 2 made a surprise appearance online Sunday (Feb. 9), when the Nike Store quietly put the sneakers up for sale in its official website. The highly anticipated final Nike and Kanye West collaboration shoe sold out within 10 minutes.

Sunday afternoon at 1p.m. EST, the official Twitter account of the Nike Store announced the sale of the “Red October” Air Yeezy 2. “The Nike Air Yeezy 2 is now available,” @nikestore tweeted. With a price tag of $245, it took just 10 minutes for the coveted sneakers to reach “out of stock” status. “The Nike Air Yeezy 2 has sold out on Nike.com”, @nikestore said in a follow-up tweet.

Following its December 27, 2013 online only release date Foot Locker cancellation, no further information was given about the status Air Yeezy 2 “Red Octobers”. Previous reports suggested that the delay may have been related to Kanye West’s departure from Nike in November.

The surprise release of the red colorway Nike Air Yeezy 2 may be bittersweet news for potential customers. Although sold out from the Nike Store for now, hypebeasts can sleep better knowing that the shoe release isn't completely cancelled. It could also hint that a new Foot Locker release date may be around the corner.
