Tuesday night I had the opportunity to meet tech leader and innovator Richard Lopez del Rincon while lounging at Bar Marmont on Sunset. The executive vice president of Miami-based CareCloud was visiting Los Angeles for Red Herring’s 2011 North America Forum at the W Hollywood Hotel. On Wednesday (June 15), the media company announced its top 100 tech companies in North America.
Launched by Albert Santalo in 2009, CareCloud is a web-based software company that helps healthcare providers better manage their data and information with innovative technology. CareCloud leverages cloud computing and open-source tools to provide intuitive software solutions to help reduce the $1.2 trillion that is wasted in healthcare each year due in part to administrative efficiency and redundant care, according to PricewaterhouseCooper’s Health Research Institute.
At the forum, Rincon appeared as a guest speaker and accepted CareCloud’s award for ranking in Red Herring’s Top 100. The media company’s editorial team selected this year’s bunch based on quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, quality of management, execution of strategy, technology innovation and disruption of their respective industries. Spanning a broad range of novel technologies, from specialized biomechanical devices to powerful mobile platforms to groundbreaking SaaS models, “The companies on this list are exceptional, not only for the intellectual property they have created and nurtured, but also simply for having found investors willing to share their risks,” reports Red Herring. “Each company on this list has harnessed the power of innovation.”
