First Fleet Concerts has been busy in recent weeks, signing and announcing a number of new concerts for their Des Moines East Village venue Wooly's. In the past few days, FFC and Wooly's have announced four rock and metal shows that fans should mark on their calendars. Here are the details.
The biggest show announced this week brings the rock band Red to town on Wednesday, February 19. The band has had massive crossover success in the U.S., topping the Rock, Christian, Indie, Alternative, and Hard Rock charts with their albums, and placing two albums in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Red has sixteen #1 Christian Rock singles, has won four GMA Dove Awards, and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards. Gemini Syndrome and Emphatic will serve as openers for the 7 p.m. all ages show. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. They may be purchased at the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly. Former Mindrite frontman Spencer Fenimore brings his Des Moines-based Tool tribute band Saturn Ascends to Wooly's on Friday, February 28. Des Moines alt-rockers Cirrus Minor and Des Moines-based Faith No More tribute band Midlife Crisis will open this 9 p.m. show. Tickets for this 21-and-over show are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance tickets are on sale now at Wooly's and through Ticketfly.
The Washington, DC experimental metal band Animals As Leaders stops by Wooly's on Monday, March 10, for an all ages show. Tour mates After the Burial, Navene K, and Chon will kick things off starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert will go on sale for $16 starting on January 21 at 2 p.m. through Wooly's and all Ticketfly outlets.
Dawn of Destruction (featuring members of Facecage and Painface) will hold an EP release and video shoot at Wooly's on Saturday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. Opening this Des Moines metalfest will be Green Death, Painface, and September. Tickets went on sale this morning for this all ages event, and they can be purchased for $10 at Wooly's and through Ticketfly.
