Atlanta movie buffs, the 2012 Writers Guild Awards were held on Sunday night in two simultaneous ceremonies taking place on two coasts at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York.
George Clooney fans will be pleased that The Descendants, adapted from the Kaui Hart Hemmings novel and screenplay written by Alexander Payne, Nat Faxom and Jim Rash, took home the Best Adapted Screenplay award, while Woody Allen fans will no doubt be pleased that Midnight in Paris, both written and directed by Woody Allen, got the Best Original Screenplay.
Of course, my eyes were on the red carpet arrivals to see what people were wearing and I must say that Amanda Peet looked very elegant in her unusual long-sleeved chiffon dress with the black velvet collar and jeweled detailing at the neckline and bodice.
Octavia Spencer’s beige chiffon and lace dress was even more interesting as the chiffon was an overlay covering a lace sheath underneath!
While actress Lisa Kudrow of sitcom Friends fame wore a simple yet elegant LBD (little black dress), Zooey Deschanel wore a black and cream plaid halter-neck gown – the crossover cream satin ribbon at the waist was a nice touch.
More plaid appeared on young Kiernan Shipka, who wore her lime green and white plaid dress very glamorously indeed, accessorizing with silver pumps.
Also attending the 2012 Writers Guild awards were Joel McHale, Kaui Hart Hemmings, Alexi Ashe, Seth Meyers, Annie Mumolo, Jason Katims, Tate Taylor, Moira Walley-Beckett, Brenda Strong, Jon Benjamin, Jonathan Ames, Amy Poehler, Nadeea, and Dan Roos.
Enjoy the slide show of their red carpet arrivals along with many others and thanks for reading as usual…
