Red carpet bully romp recap (Photos)

Never has a more fabulous group of fashionable dogs assembled for an event than the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR) dogs did today, March 9th, at the Red Carpet Romp. The Romp took place at the Doggie Depot located at 635 Rogers Street in Downers Grove, Illinois. It took place from Noon until 4:00 p.m.

Not only were there eight adoptables from CEBR present and ready to meet their forever family, but several English Bulldogs that were returning for the reunion. In addition to the great Bullies that were there entertaining the masses, Molly, Lisa Jo and Jenny, President, Vice President and Volunteer Coordinator, were all present and ready to answer any questions that their attendees could possibly have. They certainly made the crowd feel welcome and were filled with knowledge! Each lady was a treat!

Jenny had her two English Bulldogs at the event with her. Marsha, her 10-year old, was the self-appointed cookie guard. She was so adorable planted in front of the dog cookie platter (supplied by
Wiggle Waggles). Georgia, her eight-year old, on the other hand, was anxious to get back home and enjoy its comforts. Jenny is accepting of what her twilight girls want. She just loves them!

Of course Adele, the famous beauty of the ball, was present and looking quite lovely. This little lass has been through so much in her life, Spina Bifida, Swimmers Legs, surgeries and having her back legs amputated, but this did not deter her from donning her loveliest attire and sitting in her little red wagon, being pulled about like the princess that she truly is. Two other Bullies with Spina Bifida were also present: Boopers and Paddy. The reason for the disease is due to poor breeding. It is sad for the Bullies, but they are so great natured that they barely seem to notice!

Speaking of great nature, Linsey and Erica had their beautiful and very fortunate Bella present. At about a year old, Bella developed a cyst on her spine which paralyzed her. When her previous owners contacted CEBR about this and the fact that they were unable to afford the costly surgery, CEBR stepped in with their Rescue Angel program and vowed to do whatever necessary to save this lovely dog from being euthanized.

After her surgery, Bella had to undergo about a year of physical rehabilitation, including water tank therapy as well as working out on the doggy treadmill. Since CEBR recorded a video diary about Bella’s progress, many generous donations came in from the general public to cover the cost of Bella’s treatment and Erica and Linsey fell in love with the girl and adopted her. That is how it works when animals are loved as much as these Bullies are! Bella is still being maintained as a section of her spine was removed during the surgery to remove her cyst. She looked fine at this event though!

Other English Bulldogs and even one French Bulldog were in attendance. Wanda was looking lovely in her sleek black red carpet outfit while Winnie just showed up au natural! Whether dressed or undressed each and every Bulldog was completely fabulous and so adorable that it was hard not to hug them all!

English Bulldog lovers do suggest that you are completely dedicated to the breed before you decide to choose one as a furry family member. When you adopt a pet, it is not for a while, it is for a lifetime! Thanks for attending!
