Red Carpet Beauty at the Golden Globe Awards

Every year, beauty and fashion trend followers anticipate the looks on the red carpet. As awards season kicks off, three Hollywood starlets caught our eye during last night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Emily Blunt looked stunning in Michael Kors as she prompted double-takes down the red carpet. Makeup artist Jenn Streicher created the “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen” actress’s smokey eye and subtle pink lip look with Hourglass Cosmetics. Streicher started by lining eyes with Hourglass Film Noir Kohl Eye Pencil in Espresso and softened the line with a brush. She then applied the shell shimmer shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Gypsy as a highlight on the brow bone and followed with a matte brown eye shadow on the lid. Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara was applied to the lashes to volumize, lengthen and separate them. To amplifiy the brows, Streicher used Hourglass Arch Sculpting Brow Pencil in Soft Brunette. Blunt’s lips were infused with a beautiful wash of color courtesy of Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Crème Lipstick in Edition, a soft pink shimmer.

Jessica Alba’s peach-colored Osca de la Renta gown was all the inspiration makeup artist Lauren Andersen needed to create her red carpet beauty. “I loved the contrast between her glowing skin and the matte orange lip. It’s an almost tropical pop of color that’s not an exact match for the dress, but close,” said Andersen. Andersen used the bronze shade from Hourglass Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset to contour the cheeks and followed with the blush shade on the apples of the cheeks. For Alba’s eyes, Andersen applied Hourglass Film Noir Kohl Eye Pencil in Espresso to the outer corners and then smudged it with a brush. Andersen then applied Hourglass Superficial Waterproof Bronzer in the crease of the eyes and the gold shade from Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Dune on the lids. The finishing touch of Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera, a vibrant tangerine shade, was applied to Alba’s lips. The velvety matte color delivers richly pigmented and long-lasting coverage for up to 14 hours.

All eyes were fixated on Jennifer Lawrence in a gorgeous Dior Couture gown and classic Hollywood up-do. "When I saw Jennifer's Dior Couture gown, I immediately knew I wanted to pull her hair up to accentuate the amazing silhouette of the dress,” says Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend. This red carpet hair can easily be translated to us “real” folks with these simple steps from Townsend:

1) Apply a large dollop of the Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse to damp hair and dry with a diffuser attachment to encourage natural curls.

2) Take random sections of hair and spray Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray before wrapping the hair around a 1/2 inch curling iron to enhance the curls. Spray Oribe Dry Texture spray all over and scrunch curls with hands.

3) Take three to four inch sections of hair around the hairline and loosely braided them before pulling all the hair back into a low chignon secured with bobby pins.

4) Final step – Townsend always finishes with Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray “to keep the hair in place all night."
