The reminder six teams racing in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup selection series are competing this week in San Francisco for a chance to be selected for the Red Bull Youth America's Cup (RBYAC) final this September.

In this second series, the teams from Argentina, Great Britain, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal and Switzerland are going through the same process as the first six teams went last week: fitness tests, being introduced to their coaches/ sailors and sailing in the same AC45 catamarans.

The Red Bull Youth America’s Cup is a new event under the umbrella of the America’s Cup and is intended to provide talented sailors between 18 and 24 years old a clear pathway towards becoming a professional sailor in addition to the amazing prospect of competing for the America's Cup, one of the most prestigious trophies in sports.

Teams had two different opportunities to qualify for the RBYAC, either by the backing of an official America’s Cup World Series team, which upon approval from the regatta director automatically qualified them for the September finale or by qualifying through the selection series that are taking place this month. Already six teams are on their way to the finale that will take place Sept. 1 - 4, 2013 in San Francisco.

Of the six teams with a spot on the final, two are American teams selected by Oracle team USA, the reigning America’s Cup champion. The two teams are USA45 Racing (representing the U.S.) and American Youth Sailing Force (representing the San Francisco Bay Area).
