Yamid Pulido and Mari Tomey of Dallas invite friends, family and fellow salsa enthusiasts to their Red, Black & White Fundraiser Friday, September 7 at Sandunga Dance Studio. They newly paired dance couple’s first event will include dancing, performances and a Burju fashion show exhibiting the cutting edge salsa shoe line that seamlessly merges fashion and function on the dance floor.
The fundraiser will afford Pulido and Tomey the opportunity to travel and perform at future salsa venues beyond the DFW metroplex. A portion of the event’s proceeds will also benefit the Lone Star Ride Fighting Aids, a local non-profit volunteer-based organization supporting the AIDS Services of Dallas since 2001. Of the Red, Black & White Fundraiser, Yamid and Mari say:
We want to give back to those most in need. This is the first event that we have planned and we’re excited to bring together social dancers, instructors, performers, promoters and friends to celebrate our partnership and accomplish our short-term goal, which is to get our first piece ready for showcase while raising money for a good cause. In the near future we’ll be performing at the Puerto Rican & Cuban Festival in Houston, TX. We look forward to gaining support and enjoying success with our dancing career.
The Red, Black & White Fundraiser runs from 9:45 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. at Sandunga Dance Studio (2155 Marsh Lane, Carrollton, TX 75006). There is a $10 minimum donation at the door and the venue is BYOB. Performances by Alison & Johan, Gifted Souls Dallas, Dallas Divas and Marcus & Rie will start at 10:45 p.m. The Dallas Burju Fashion Show kicks off at 11:30 p.m., immediately followed by a Burju gift certificate raffle. Social dancing is offered from midnight until 2:00 a.m.
