Isn’t it sad that Congress and the political parties are unable to come together due to the differences between the Red and Blue? People especially Veterans are caught in the middle during this foolish frolic. Health care reform, taxes, job opportunities, home foreclosures and Veteran disability backlogs are all the current hot button issues.
Currently, it is taking up to one year for a Veteran who files a disability claim to either get approved or to get an answer! It appears that we are experiencing yet another governmental mish-mash of paperwork and red-tape as we saw in the previous years with the Social Security Administration (SSA). We will begin to see the SSA travesty again once the Baby Boomers begin to retire in droves.
The Veterans disability application backlog is said to be due to several factors:
1. An influx of Veterans filing
2. The use of an antiquated system
3. No Plan B, C or D to address how to streamline and/or improve the process
4. The disconnection for obtaining Veteran medical records between the Veterans Affairs and the Pentagon
If something does not change soon this problem can become worse. In spite of it all, we must give the government employees our support for the efforts that they are making to keep the momentum going pertaining to this backlog. A word to our political officials, Congress and President Obama end the differences and provide a solution. Our Veterans need some ‘quick’ results. We are counting on you.
