On a windy, rainy day all it takes is one fell swoop gust and your umbrella is broken or maybe it was stepped on giving the football team a ride home from practice. Breaking instantly, you want to throw it away but where do all of those broken umbrellas go?
Broken umbrellas do have a value
RecylingZychal on Etsy is recycling old umbrellas into the coolest usable things. Dog coats and cat toys and there’s more, and for each broken umbrella that is donated they are donating $1 to the Morris Animal Refuge. Visit the site not just for rainy days anymore and donate your old broken down umbrella to the cause and buy some new fabby things made from them.
"Green" for a rainy day
Taryn Zychal and her team, came up with the idea while she was visiting a Salvation Army doing some shopping and purchased an old umbrella for the funky print material for a dollar. She didn’t just want to turn it into a handbag and intended to do better. So she began collecting them and started a “No Broken Umbrella Shall Be Left Behind” policy. Today the rest is history and she sports a new policy, “Flora, Fauna and Function.”
