For an extremely affordable and easy-to-make centerpiece idea, consider making these yarn-wrapped bottles. The project is simple enough to do at the last minute before a party, but with some planning they can be perfectly coordinated to your event. As a bonus, they reuse old glass bottles!
All you need to make these vase-like centerpieces are used bottles, yarn, scissors and heavy-duty glue. Make sure your bottles are clean and dry. Find the end of a skein of yarn and unravel several feet of it. Glue the end of the yarn to the very lowest part of the bottle's side (not on the bottom of the bottle or the final product will not sit flat on a surface). Wait for the glue to dry and the yarn to adhere to the bottle, then begin to wrap the yarn around the bottle, making each pass as close to the last one as possible. Periodically add a dab of glue to the bottle as you work your way up in order to secure the yarn. When you reach the top, glue the yarn to the upper edge of the bottle and trim the excess.
Fill these rustic, homemade centerpieces with single flowers at an outdoor wedding, a casual summer dinner party or a baby shower. Try using a variety of yarn colors or mixing bottles of different shapes and sizes, like wine bottles and beer bottles, for a more intriguing aesthetic.
