Recycle old electronics devices through Amazon Trade-In

Amazon's Trade-In program allows buyers to receive gift card credit on items including books, DVDs, CDs, video games, electronics, cell phones, Kindles, and other items. Not only does this program help buyers earn gift card credits to spend on Amazon.com, but it helps our environment by keeping used items out of the landfills. If you received a new device this year as a holiday gift as an upgrade to an existing device, you may want to consider recycling your old device through the Amazon Trade-In program.

To determine the trade-in value of your item, simply look it up on Amazon as if you were a buyer. If the item has a trade-in value, you will see a section that says, "Sell Us Your Item" and a trade-in button. Click the trade-in button, assign a condition to the item (condition guidelines are on each page), and Amazon will show a value for the item. For example, if you wanted to trade a First Generation Apple iPad in good condition, the trade-in value shows as $115.

Continue through the process to choose your shipping method. Most inbound shipping is free - Amazon pays the shipping. Package the item appropriately, print a packing slip, place it in the box, print the shipping label, and mail it in. If the item does not meet the condition chosen during the trade in process, your item will be assigned a lower value or you can choose to have it sent back, free of charge. Just be sure to erase all personal data from devices such as cell phones, tablets, or laptop computers. Amazon.com will send an email when the process is complete and your account has been credited.
