Recycle for a cause this Saturday (Photos)

Guardian Angel Animal Rescue (GAAR) is raising money to spay three three-month old cats recently rescued from the streets of Detroit through the collection of plastic and aluminum cans and bottles, such as pop cans and pop bottles. The recycling event will be held this Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Commerce Towhship, MI PetSmart. According to the 1976 Michigan Container Act, each bottle or can is worth10¢. All proceeds from the recycled cans and bottles will be used to cover veterinary bills for the two cats who need to be spayed.

Recyclables include all bottles and cans on which a deposit was made that are marked in some manner with something like "MI 10¢."

Guardian Angel Animal Rescue is a Livonia, MI-based 501 (c)(3) non-profit, no-kill rescue rescues cats and dogs from euthanization, neglect and abuse and finds each and every one of them a forever home. Many cats are available to view at the PetSmart store on Haggerty Rd. in Commerce Township, MI, while others live in loving foster homes awaiting adoption. Cat adoption events are most Saturdays between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Those wishing to adopt a cat residing at PetSmart or from their Pet Finder page, may contact GAAR at 734-516-2171 or via email.
