This FREE event, called “Hiring Our Heroes / RecruitMilitary Veteran Opportunity Expos,” is on November 3rd from 11a – 3p at Lincoln Financial Field (1020 Pattison Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19148). Free parking in Lot J.
In addition to educational opportunities, local companies who want to Hire Our Heros will be on site. I recommend you register in advance. You do not need your military documents; you do need copies of your proofread resume. If you are more comfortable in your uniform, that’s OK. Otherwise, dress professionally in civilian clothes.
A career fair is the ideal setting to practice your introduction, sometimes called your elevator pitch. These employers already know you served your country, so don’t spend the few seconds you have to introduce yourself restating your service record. Instead, describe yourself and your ideal role. For example: “Hello; I’m Bob. I am an experienced flight test engineer looking for a civilian role that leverages my experience with Boeing aircraft.”
