Have you decided what format to use for your family history record? If not, you should have narrowed it down to 2-3 good ideas. No one says you have to pick only one of these either. Your Evansville Genealogy Examiner has decided to attempt both of the following:
- start a website and/or web log (aka blog)
- publish records and photos in a book
If you want to have a book published, either by a company or self-published, check out The Armchair Genealogist by Lynn Palermo. She outlines all the steps from organizing your information and photos to "Funding Your Family History Book". She also offers advice on every step of tracing your history. After you decide how much you can afford to spend, how long you want your book, etc.; be sure to see Cyndi's List - Writing Your Family's History > Publishers for a long list of publishing companies that will print your Family Book.
Do you want to start a website for your family? You can add pictures, videos, family addresses, a family calendar and/or a blog. Go to Building a Family History Site on Weebly for complete instructions from Caroline M. Pointer.
GeneaBloggers Blog Recources is a terrific site if you're interested in writing a blog about your genealogy research. GeneaBloggers also offers several writing prompts for each day! If that sounds overwhelming, try Olive Tree Genealogy Blog: Sharing Memories which only gives one question to answer per week.
