Record Store Day's 2013 ambassador is Jack White

On Feb. 19 singer-songwriter and guitarist Jack White announced in a video and in a blog post that he is the official ambassador for this year's Record Store Day. In the humorous video White takes us through a tour of United Record Pressing. The sixth annual Record Store Day will take place in 2013 on April 20.

Record Store Day is annually celebrated on the third Saturday of every April. On that day, special vinyl releases from artists are made available to purchase at record stores. For last year's Record Store Day there was over 400 special releases.

On his official website Jack White wrote,

As Record Store Day Ambassador of 2013 I’m proud to help in any way I can to invigorate whoever will listen with the idea that there is beauty and romance in the act of visiting a record shop and getting turned on to something new that could change the way they look at the world, other people, art, and ultimately, themselves. Let’s wake each other up.

Jack White is not only a musician but he is also a record store owner. His Third Man Records is not only a label, but also a store located in Nashville. He founded the company in 2009 and since the formation he has put out single's and album's from The Dead Weather, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, JEFF the Brotherhood, and more.

Previous Record Store Day ambassador's include Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, and Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. What do you think about Jack White being Record Store Day's ambassador for 2013? Feel free to leave comments below or on our Facebook page.
