Record Store Day: Music lovers get their groove on at record stores

Get ready to get your groove on, folks! An annual holiday is coming up that has music lovers around the country ready to rock-and-roll! Independently owned record stores around the world will participate in Record Store Day, an annual "holiday" that celebrates music and the independently-owned brick-and-mortar record stores.

Observed on the third Saturday in April, this year's event takes place on April 19, 2014. For the seventh year in a row, participating record stores around the globe will be offering special releases and exclusive vinyl editions in honor of the occasion.

Those of us of a “certain age” may remember checkin’ out the latest and greatest rock-and-roll singles and groovy cover art on vinyl albums. Although advances in technology have changed the way people listen to and buy music, fans from all over the world can still take a trip down memory lane by heading to their nearest record store on Record Store Day. If you need a little something to get you in the mood, April 20 is also 420 Day. And speaking of special days, today is also Husband Appreciation Day.
