If you fondly remember heading to the local record store to browse or pick up the latest release from your favorite band, then you may have had April 16, 2011 marked on your calendar for weeks. This is the fourth annual Record Store Day, a day when independently owned record stores come together with artists for a celebration of music.

This year's ambassador is Ozzy Osbourne, but vinyl fans have an opportunity to pick up special releases from Beastie Boys, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, or dozens of other artists. These are all special releases. Some will be available only on Record Store Day, and many limited editions that will only be available in independent stores. Since the participating stores are independent, not all releases will be available in all stores.
