It's only three more months until that special time of year once again. Record Store Day 2014 will be held on April 19, the third Saturday in April, just like in previous years, event organizers recently announced.
Record Store Day 2014 will mark the seventh year since the biannual music lover's holiday has begun, one which rewards fans with exclusive releases and limited-edition offerings at their local indie music store. This year's releases have yet to be revealed, although the announcement should come soon.
The last Record Store Day was less than two months ago in November on Black Friday, a day which helped push vinyl sales up to six million in 2013, up from 4.6 million in 2012, according to Neilson Soundscan. Neilson says vinyl now makes up 2% of all album sales nationwide. That's not much, but in a digital age, vinyl enthusiasts will take it.
