Record heat & rain

Over the weekend very warm air ahead of a powerful cold front brought record heat to West Michigan. Records include a new record warm minimum temperature set in Grand Rapids on Friday. The low was only 37° which breaks the old record of 35° set in 2006. Muskegon also set a new record warm minimum temperature with 37°, breaking the old record of 36° in 1929. Lansing tied their record warm low temperature with a reading of 35°. This record was set in 1890 and tied in 2006.

Friday was very rainy across the region with new records set for the soggy conditions. Grand Rapids observed 0.58 inches, breaking the old record of 0.51 inches set in 1905. Muskegon saw 0.84 inches of rain breaking the old record of 0.63 inches set in 1991.

Now for the record high temperature set on Saturday. In Grand Rapids the high was 57° breaking the old record of 55° set in 2005.
