September 2009 is a month to remember across parts of Northern Mississippi, with several locations breaking rainfall records, while other locations neared record rainfall amounts for the month.
Over an 2 week period, periods of heavy rain pounded Northern and portions of Eastern Mississippi, with many locations receiving 11 to 14 inches of rainfall.
September is typically one of the driest months of the year, but turned out to be one of the wettest Septembers on record for some areas!!!

Philadelphia-8.72 inches (Record 9.55" in 1977)
Meridian-9.32 inches (Record 10.78" in 2002)
Holly Springs-8.79 inches (Record 9.28" in 1996)
Eupora-9.39 inches (Record 9.77" in 2002)
Gholson-9.27 inches (Record 10.72" in 1977)
Lexington--8.83 inches (Record 9.80" in 1958)
Macon-9.18 inches (Record 9.95" in 2001)

The most memorable wet Septembers in Mississippi-occurred in 1958 and 1979, when many locations received over 10 inches of rainfall-with several areas surpassing 15 inches.
