Recon receives substantial investment from Intel to surpass Google Glass

On Thursday, the Canadian company, Recon received investment capital from Intel Corp (INTC), the amount was undisclosed. The investment will help fund Recon's product development, marketing and global sales expansion. The Recon Jet is the competitor of Google Glass. Google Glass sells for $1,500 and Recon Jet for only $599. The Recon Jet promotes itself as the wearable computer of professionals and athletes. To celebrate the Intel capital partnership, they are giving $100 off the purchase of a Recon Jet till October 6, 2013, using promo code "INTEL100" at checkout in their website www.reconinstruments.com..

Recon has already shipped 50,000 units worldwide of its snow model designed for skiers. It also has launched a successful campaign with Apple retail stores. Dan Eisenhardt, CEO of Recon Instruments said, "our products are engineered to deliver instant information, direct-to-eye and without distraction in the most demanding environments on Earth. Intel Capital shares our vision for wearable technology, which enhances users' performance and experience across a broad range of sports and outdoor activities." The Recon Jet is a 28-gram device with equal weight distribution on both sides, a dual-core 1 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, ANT+ for device communications, Bluetooth, GPS, an HD camera and an HD display, and many sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, magnetometer, and thermometer. The possibilities with the Recon Jet are endless.
