Halloween can be a stressful time for your pups, especially if your door bell is constantly ringing, accompanied by strange creatures yelling trick or treat every time the door opens. That stress is further compounded with frustration when your pup figures out she is not going to be able to finagle even one of the smallest Halloween treats from you no matter how cute she is or how much she begs.
Ease your pup’s anxiety level by making her some Pupkin Biscuits. Don’t give any to your kids, however, no matter how cute they are or how much they beg – these are special treats just for man’s best friend!
1 ½ cups canned pure pumpkin puree
2 Tablespoons dry milk powder
2 ½ cups white or whole wheat flour
- Preheat oven to 350ᵒF.
- In a bowl, stir together the eggs, pumpkin puree, milk powder and flour; add 2 teaspoons water so that the dough just comes together.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough ½” thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Gather the scraps, combine, roll and form more biscuits. Repeat until all the dough is used.
- Place biscuits 1” apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip them and bake another 20 minutes (until hardened). Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes.
*Be sure the biscuits have cooled thoroughly before sharing with your pup.
