Recipe switch ups for the traditional pumpkin pie

Make the change this Thanksgiving.  Stop following the pumpkin pie recipe on the back of the can or making the same pie year after year.  These pumpkin pie switch ups may surprise the family’s taste buds this holiday season.

Pumpkin cheesecake can be a hit, but to avoid the heaviness of a cheesecake on an already heavy meal day such as Thanksgiving try a pumpkin cream pie.  This pie is easy to make and has the best of both a traditional pumpkin pie and a cheesecake all topped off with a brown sugar whipped cream.  To get this recipe, click on the Food Network link below.

Pumpkin pie is one of many sweets on Thanksgiving.  The endless choices can make the dessert table seem looming.   Make bite size pumpkin pies so everybody gets a taste of all of their favorites.  To do this, mix up your favorite pumpkin pie recipe and use a small circle cookie cutter to cut out pie dough.  Press the circles into the bottom and up the sides of a mini muffin tin.  Pour the pumpkin mixture over crust and bake until filling is set. When baking the pies use the temperature your recipe calls for but cut back the baking time.  Try baking them for 15 minutes, check the pies for doneness and then check on them every five minutes until done.
