Recharge yourself

Get out for a night!

All parents know that when their children are babies it’s harder to leave them with a sitter or just to leave the house. You are constantly thinking of them and how they are doing, and this is natural and all parents go through this. Parenting is a full time job, and  in life we need breaks and that is okay. Taking a break and doing something for you is vital for every parent.

Even the small things like, taking a nice hot bath for some quiet time with some bath salts or reading a good book. Even if it’s 15 minutes a day, it will be your fifteen minutes. It’s very important to have down time with your significant other whether you’re married or in a relationship.

Going out to dinner or a movie is always nice. Getting together with friends and reconnecting with people is important for your relationship and for your child. The time away gives you the time to have adult conversation and RELAX!

At Families First in Portsmouth, NH they have a parent recharge group that meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. They have activities for the young ones and the adults are with other parents. This is a great time to get some “me time” and have a conversation with other adults that are going through similar parenting matters as you.

There are many groups for moms and dads to get connected with other people or groups in their community. There is a great website for new moms and dad listed below where you can find a local parenting group or social group near you. Remember to take time as a family and for you!
