Missing dog, Dakota
Recycled Pits

Update 6/16/14: A very sad update - Dakota was discovered not far from where she disappeared. Unfortunately, she was quite ill with pneumonia and died just one hour after she was found.

The search is on, in and around Crystal Lake, Ill., for a dog who bolted this month during a transport between the Chicago Animal Care and Control and a veterinarian's office.

The 12-year-old dog, named "Dakota," slipped away from the transporter in the parking lot of the veterinary hospital on June 2 and she has not yet been found.

Dakota is described as white, with brown spots, pit bull mix who weighs approximately 55 pounds, she was in a slip lead at the time that she escaped and is not wearing a collar. Dakota was last seen in the parking lot of the Randal Road Vet Clinic at 1580 Carlemont Drive in Crystal Lake.

Anyone who spots Dakota is asked to call: 773-799-7845
