A recently discharged Army soldier was found dead inside his wrecked car Thursday, two days after he was last seen leaving a Buckhead bar.
Mr. Randal Andrew Ackerman, 31, of Sandy Springs, was honorably discharged after a tour of Afghanistan, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was last seen leaving Hangovers bar around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The investigation into Mr. Ackerman’s death began about 6 p.m. Thursday, when troopers were called about the wreck at Johnson Ferry Road and Mill Creek Road in Sandy Springs, according to Georgia State Patrol.
Someone had spotted the vehicle, which was off the roadway and down an embankment, officials said.
“Upon arrival, troopers found a vehicle that had left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and overturned,” State Patrol spokesman Mr. Gordy Wright said in a statement. They found Mr. Ackerman dead inside the car.
Investigators have not yet determined the exact day and time of the crash, Mr. Wright said.
