Recap of ‘Nashville’ episode 13 ‘There’ll Be No Teardrops Tonight’

Our merry band of musicians has a bumpy night in episode 13 of “Nashville.” Scarlet is put off by Gunnar’s brother’s return. Juliette is struggling with Glen’s need to control her career and Rayna is reeling from Teddy’s request for a divorce. The episode aired Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 9 p.m.

Scarlett, Gunnar and Jason

Jason shows up at the Bluebird looking to make amends with Gunnar and maybe get back into the music business. Scarlett smells trouble and insists Gunnar send him on his way. She wants no part of harboring a fugitive. After Gunnar explains that Jason took the fall for the armed robbery himself, she relents and agrees to one night. In the morning, she wakes to Jason fixing Gunnar’s favorite breakfast and stories of their misspent youth. When Jason joins in on their living room song rehearsal, the trio makes beautiful music and Scarlet acquiesces and agrees to let Jason stay a few more days.

Juliette

Juliette has decided to change things up a bit. She wants to dispense with all the glitter and glam of the tour and do a set that is acoustic and focused on her and Deacon. She makes changes without getting Glen’s approval. Glen in turn calls a meeting behind Juliette’s and Deacon’s backs and tells the crew not to do anything without his consent. When Deacon learns of it, he tries to talk to Glen but ends up telling Juliette. She blows a gasket, banging on everyone’s hotel room door at 2 in the morning. She informs her crew that she is the boss, she pays their salaries and they will do what she wants. Glen has had enough and quits. Later that day, Deacon warns her that she will drive away a lot of good people with that behavior, maybe even him.

Jolene is about to leave rehab and at first, Juliette tells her assistant to find her mom a place to live far away from Juliette’s. Once they get home from the tour, Juliette rethinks her position on the matter, calls Jolene and invites her mom to live at Juliette’s place for a while.

Rayna, Liam, Deacon and Teddy

Still reeling from the events of last week – Teddy’s request for a divorce and Deacon kissing her unexpectedly – Rayna has it anything but together. She and Deacon are barely speaking except when he confronts her over spending the previous night with Liam. She and Liam spent a drunken night together commiserating the pain and sorrow of their lives and come out friends again. Teddy on the other hand, is pushing to tell the kids about the divorce as soon as possible while trying to keep his affair with Peggy a secret. Too bad for him that his oldest daughter overhears the cheater talking to his mistress and then informs Rayna.

Avery

Unhappy with his current situation, Avery is considering an offer from South Circle to buy his catalog of music. Marilyn advises him not to sell but naturally he thinks he knows better and does anyway. He gets a $100,000 check and looks quite pleased with himself. There is no doubt this will blow up in his face down the road.

Will Jason become part of the Scarlett-Gunnar team or will his presence only get the two star-crossed songbirds in more trouble? Will Juliette ever mature enough to actually take the advice of the people around her? Will Rayna choose Liam or Deacon and how will she handle Teddy’s latest betrayal? Tune in Wednesdays at 9 p.m. to find out what happens next on “Nashville.”
