On Thursday the 3rd of October in 2013, The Baltimore District Council of The Urban Land Institute hosted an exclusive celebration for its fifth annual WaveMaker Awards program at Pazo’s in Harbor East. Who knew one two floor restaurant and night club could house such an intimate affair. Talk about a comfortable and convenient ceremony full of cherished networking and good cheer.
ULI is a one-stop shop for everything supportive of re-imaging thriving communities worldwide through leadership concerning accountable use of land resources.
The WaveMaker Awards celebration took place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. serving hors d'oeuvres, champagne, wine and beer. The champagne was bubbling from every corner of the building; the Mediterranean food tastings range from their signature marinated Arbequina olives & Marcona almonds, Sicilian eggplant Caponata bruschette, potato & manchego croquetas, Gambas al Ajillo made with shrimp & corn polenta, pizze napoletane, chicken on a stick and mini burgers. The signature cocktail for the evening was champagne which was bursting with bubbles.
Notables in attendance was ULI Baltimore founder Marty Millspaugh & his wife Meredith and Cordish chairman David Cordish, last year's Lifetime Achievement winner.
The coolest part of it all was the festive musical environment from the live performance of St. Veronica's Youth Steel Orchestra. During the celebration attendees were allowed to witness the presentation of ULI’s 2013 Lifetime Achievement award to Tom Bozzuto, Chairman and CEO of The Bozzuto Group. Tom Bozzuto was said to have created nearly 50,000 residential units during his 40-year career which stem from affordable housing to high end residential properties.
The main event not to be under mentioned included an awards presentation and short video profile segments via flat screen televisions which showcased the four awarded projects which included:
