Recap: In no time at all, entrance exams are right around the corner. Ema is nervous because she didn’t do so well on the practice exam. The brothers get together and decide to put together a special lunch for her to lighten her load and allow her more time to study. Ema thanks the brothers, and announces that she also had a safety school in mind, which gets Yusuke fired up enough to encourage her to aim for her first choice (because he wants to go there, too).
Ema runs into Tsubaki and Azusa as they are heading out the door. Asuza comments on how Tsubaki has been more focused and serious about his work in recent months since taking an anime role. Azusa tells Ema not to think of Tsubki’s past self, but to concentrate on how he is now, so that he can also strive to great heights. Azusa also tells her that he can wait until after exams for her answer on her feelings for the brothers.
Subaru is in front of Ema’s door, and when she arrives he tells her that he’s going to go for some training but will be back after her exams. He also tells her that he can wait until after exams for her answer on her feelings for the brothers.
On the day of the exams, Louis arrives to wish her luck. He presents her with a flower that he found in front of her door that was left by Iori, an iris that has the meaning of “faith in good tidings to come.”
On her way out the door, she gets a text message from Natsume, who tells her that he has a treat for her after the exams. Then Futo calls on his break to wish her luck, in his own Futo-like way.
After the exams, Ema is waiting outside, and runs into Kaname. She expresses her nervousness about the results of the exams, which Kaname teases her a little bit on that if things don’t work out, would she like to live with him. Ema says she’s sure that the iris that Iori gave her will bring her some “good tidings.” Going into the house, with Iori standing at the door, Kaname hints that he knows the alternate meaning of the iris – “I will risk it all to love you.”
Ema goes out with Natsume to an entertainment center. While talking with Natsume about a particular game, Ema mentions Subaru’s acceptance into the pros. Which Natsume wasn’t aware of.
Natsume drops Ema off, and she brings up that he wanted to talk with her about something, which he says can wait. But as Ema is headed into the house, Natsume grabs her arm and pulls her close, saying he needed to express his feelings. However, Subaru catches them together and gets angry with Natsume, punching him. Natsume officially confesses his feelings to her, which gets Subaru angry.
Ema and Natsume go to a playground, where he tells her the backstory of his and Subaru’s relationship – Natsume was in track and field up until high school, and Subaru looked up to him until he quit. Natsume tells Ema that he thinks his path to the pros was partially influenced by her. And he lets her know that he has no intention of losing. And that he wants an answer on her feelings.
Ema goes to see Subaru, who has holed himself up in his room. Subaru tells her that he’s too worked up to talk to her right now, and she tells him that when she told Natsume about him going pro, he seemed really happy about it, which causes Subaru to reflect on their relationship.
When Ema wakes up to find Subaru with his bags packed, prepped for training, he tells her that he didn’t realize how Natsume felt about him until she told him yesterday, and that he pushed him away for “bratty” reasons. Subaru also expressed regret that he punched Natsume in front of her, and that he didn’t think he could make her happy with the way he was now.
In the final moments, Yusuke is talking to himself in the mirror, saying that once he gets the results of the exams, he intends on confessing his feelings to her.
Review: During this episode you want to scream at the screen, “Leave the poor girl alone!” Ema is now under a lot more pressure than she was with the exams, since it seems that most of her new stepsiblings have confessed their love to her or want to confess to her. And she always seems so flustered when this comes up – you’d think after so many confessions that she would be used to it by now. Next week: Will Ema make a choice? Will she still want to be a family? And what will her father do if he discovers that his new stepsons are hitting on his daughter?
