Recall: McDonald's Shrek glasses

Shrek glasses recalled.

Despite the ogre's popularity in theaters this summer, Shrek's steamware line at McDonald's has received less than stellar reviews. Please see this link for information about the recall of drinking glasses that are part of the McDonald's Shrek promotion.

Although levels are not dangerously high, the elevated leves of cadmium in the paint on the glasses is of concern to McDonald's executives. Such amounts can be dangerous if transferred from children's hands to their mouths, causing them to ingest the cadmium.

While the level of cadmium is just above the level of concern, McDonald's is taking every caution and has issued a recall. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using these glasses. Beginning Wednesday June 9th, customers can return their Shrek glasses to any McDonald's location for a full refund.
