On August 12, 2010, Circus World Displays Limited and The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have announced a voluntary recall of Levana Wireless Video Baby Monitors. There have been two reports of the monitor's camera overheating and emitting smoke, although there have been no reported injuries to date.
Roughly 800 units have been distributed, sold at BB Buggy, Health and Safety stores nationwide, and on the internet. All units being recalled were sold between February 2010 and May 2010 for about $200.
Affected units are model number LV-TW300. The Consumer Products Safety Commission describes the unit as follows: "the receiver front is white and green with six round buttons and the printed word "Levana". It is 7 inches tall and includes a stand/base. The camera is all white, about 5 inches tall and is attached to a 3 1/2 inch long white base."
Consumers in possession of this product should stop using it immediately and return it to: Circus World Displays Ltd, Attention: Adam Crysler, Dealer Returns Specialist, 60 Industrial Parkway Suite Z64, Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Consumers will be given either a refund or replacement with a different model. Circus World Displays Limited requests that when returning the product, consumers include the entire product, their complete name, mailing address and a phone number where they can be reached.
The CPSC is still accepting incident and injury reports and urges anyone who believes that they may be a victim of an incident regarding this product to report it by visiting their website.
