Rebecca Taylor stayed true to her boho-chic aesthetic for Fall 2012. Her collection, shown at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Feb. 10, was full of layered, wearable separates, long dresses and coats perfect for the creative it-girl with cool, effortless style.
Overall, we wish Taylor had strayed from a predominantly black and gray palette and infused her fall collection with more color. But of the 40 looks, early on the black sequin print t-shirt dress paired with graphite chiffon leggings caught our eye, as did the black chiffon shirt dress worn over a charcoal studded wool jersey dress and perforated leather leggings. The real standouts, however, were Taylor's outerwear -- notably an '80s-reminiscent zig-zag pattern herringbone coat, a quilted carbon leather jacket, a navy boucle jacket with leather fringe, and a navy wool bomber.
We also loved her "Twilight" velvet sweatshirt paired with black ribbed leggings and the flowy, feminine "Eclipse" beaded shift. Both designs seem inspired by the tortured teen vampire flicks of the same name and would look stunning on dourly beautiful actress Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, heroine of the Twilight films.
