At a news conference on Oct. 18, 2013, Polk County, Florida Sheriff Grady Judd said “…the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” when referring to the mother of a 14-year-old girl accused of bullying Rebecca Sedwick, 12, who committed suicide last month.
According to ABC Action News, the mother, Vivian Vosburg, 30, was charged with various child abuse charges stemming from a video posted on Facebook in July.
Authorities said that in the video, Vosburg is seen getting involved in a fight between two underage boys.
ABC reports that authorities say the video was filmed in the bedroom of the woman’s residence, with six children between the ages of 9 and 14 seen in the home during the video.
On Thursday, authorities interviewed Vosburg, who admitted being the woman in the footage, but said she was attempting to break up the fight between the two boys. According to ABC, she admitted hitting one in the face and another on the back of his head.
One of the juveniles is seen continuously being hit by Vosburg, who said she was trying to keep him from getting up from the bed.
She was arrested Friday and charged with four counts of child neglect and two counts of child abuse with bodily harm, according to ABC.
