It's been six years since Reba McEntire has released a solo studio album, but the wait is over, and her latest release, Keep On Loving You was definitely worth the wait.

Reba is queen of strong women songs, and her album features several tracks which fit neatly into that category. The first single, "Strange," tells the story of a woman who is coming out of a failed relationship, and even though she feels she should be reeling from the situation, she can't seem to be all that sad, so she decides to just get over it and go on with her life.

Her second single, "Consider Me Gone" has a similar theme, as the woman realizes her relationship with her significant other is suffering due to his lack of communication. She says to him that if she isn't the one that he can't stand to lose, and if her kisses aren't what he misses, then they need to just end the relationship. She's not willing to settle for being second best to him.

Another song about a woman taking control of her life is "She's Turning 50 Today," which is one that Reba had a hand in writing, along with Liz Hengber and Tommy Lee James. Her husband has left her for a woman half her age, and while she could just wallow in her pain, she decides to pack up her things and just move on with her life without looking back.

"Maggie Creek Road" is another track with a strong woman theme. This time it's a mama that is making sure her daughter is not going to get taken advantage of, in a situation that she herself had gone through. When her daughter goes out on a date with an older man, she worries that the past is repeating itself. She finds the car where the couple is parked, and takes care of the situation, with a pistol in her hand.

But, the album isn't only about strong women. In the song "Just When I Thought I'd Stopped Loving You," the woman can't seem to say no to her man. Even though he keeps straying, when he calls and says he's sorry and he nees her, she pulls him right back in. She doesn't know why she does it, but she can't seem to help herself.

The title track is definitely one of the strongest songs on this album. The ballad tells the story of a couple who have their tough times together, but through it all, the woman keeps on loving her man.

The final track is this writer's favorite, with it's great Western Swing style. The woman in this song is at a bar, and she sees another lady dancing like she's on thin air. When the waitress comes by to take her order, she says "I'll have what she's having. I want what she's got. Someone sweet as he can be, and by the way that hot."

Reba is back with an album of songs that are sure to become favorites. I highly recommend this album, and rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
