The obvious reason anyone wants a greenhouse is to extend the growing season but there are other reasons you should consider. Having a portable greenhouse lets you have certain advantages you might not otherwise get from your gardening experience as reported by Mother Earth News.
When you plan your garden, you’ll want to keep the summer plants and the winter crops separated. You can leave the greenhouse over summer crops like tomatoes and peppers well into the fall to protect them from frosts and extend your growing cycle. When they are done for the year, you can move it to the cold-hardy crops to give them additional protection into the winter.
In addition to protecting your plants from the ravages of the cold, there is another benefit you get my being able to move the greenhouse from one spot to another and back again. In ground that’s continually covered, you run the risk of a buildup of pests and disease. When the ground is exposed to open air, those risks decrease. Having a portable greenhouse allows you to provide protection to a larger number of plants than you could if you had just one stationary greenhouse.
When you consider ways to get the most out of your garden to support your self-sustained way of life, a portable greenhouse just makes sense.
