Sorry, it's not always all about you, San Francisco. Ugly Winner, Worker Bee (record release), and Doctor Nurse will be appearing at the Blank Club in San Jose on Wednesday. Sure, driving from SF to SJ might up your carbon footprint but I'm sure the environment won't mind taking one for the team. Plus, no cover.
Of course, it usually is all about you San Francisco. For instance, Hank IV will be at El Rio on Saturday, July 11, but I'm sure you already knew that. As if you needed any more proof of their worthiness, they also wrote the theme music for WFMU's 'The Best Show' under the name Theme Weavers LLC.
Too bad we're well past the 'Millions Now Living Will Never Die' era of Tortoise as they'll be appearing at the Great American Music Hall, Monday, July 13th. The new album can't be as bad as 'Standards' right? Luckily, the opening band, Pit er Pat, is there to pick up the slack.
Apparently, it's a good time to be poor, since there's another free show, this time at the Knockout on July 14, featuring Pins of Light, who I've mentioned before, along with Iron Witch and Pigs. Big fans of Bastille Day, those guys.
You don't really need to see your friends or family, as there are still more good shows. Sub-Mission Artspace will be hosting Ordstro, Koalacaust, We Be the Echo and more on Friday, June 17th.
Probably the most important thing you'll hear all month: Three Mile Pilot with Optigonally Yours at the Bottom of the Hill, Saturday, July 18. (also the Blank Club in San Jose July 24)
Finally, rounding out this cavalcade of stars, Judgment Day & Triclops! will be at the Bottom of the Hill on Sunday, July 19.
