Reasoning for Pope Benedict's resignation announcement

Questions as to what is the cause of the resigning Cathloic Pope Benedict are flouding around the globe. Independant media sources are speaking about the connections of recent scandals with allegations into the church about sexual abuse. While the resignment of a Pope has not entered into our time, it is acceptable upon the need. Meida prpaganda has nothing to do with the cause of him stepping down. His reasoning was more about personal health issues. He has made a great impact in our faith and in our world.

The scandals have gained much attention from people who may never learned anything about Christianity or the high council of the Catholic Priesthood. It is shcoking to hear that such abuse has taken place. Wikipedia accounts that the cases began with children as young as " 3years to 14 years old", and that the documentation on record provides evidence that it was a severe incurrence. While the Pope himself is not responisible for any of the illegal actions accused to any of he members of the Cathloic Church, he recently went to visit some of the victims. Yahoo News reports on Feb.12 that " Pope Benedict was the first pontiff to meet with victims of the clearical sexual abuse."

The public announcement of the resignation made its headway on Feb.11, 2013. The plans for him to leave his position are set into effect for Feb.28th, 2013. Gary Garvey of Catholic University in Washington DC writes; " Pope Benedict XVI has spoken powerfully on the abundant need for people who know the faith today and even the greater need for thoose who lived it well," in his article " Why Benedict resigned". In April of 2008 the Pope visited the University where Gary is president of the student body. The Pope gave a speach in Washington DC that day and spoke these words," Far from being just a communication of factual data- informative- the loving truth of the Gospel is creative and life changing- Performative"

What is know about Christainity in the press today is growing. On Jan. 15th, 2013 the Vatican City where th Catholic Church presides was offical a site for portestors of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Female protestos fled the streets with no tops on and black markers with the writtings of on the front side with the words " Shut Up", and on the back, " In Gay we Trust" written on their bodies. Cetain beliefs and prcatices of the rejection of Gay and Lesbian equal rights were the cause of the protestors. The showing off women's bodies with bear breasts was an unexpected event. Every one wants to be loved and to be equal, yet the Vatican can only offer so many answers. This type of media attention around the sexual abuse allegations brought more attention to the Christain faith in recent times. But the announcing of the Pope's resignation was solely based on health issues.

Being that the Pope is now 85 years old, being born on April 26th, 1927 he has endured many physical symptoms which are preventing his full abillities to serve his authority. He spoke to the public stating he has " lack of stregthen of mind and body:" Being in leadership for only 8 years, as he took his papal Inauguration Mass on April 24th, 2005 this is one of the shortest runs for a Pope. Yet he was ordained as a priest in 1951. Problems within his primary senses which occur in the aging process have prevented his vision and hearing from allowing full operation to communicate.

One of Pope Benedicts favorite preachings was on the role of Christ being our friend. His words truth were;" Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors of Christ!' His sermons talked about the relationship human have to their diety and savour. " We are all called to open ourselves to this friendship with God..speaking to him as to a friend, the only One who can make the world both good and happy. That is all we have to do is put ourselves at his disposal..is an extremely important message. It is a message that helps to overcome what can be considered the great temptation of our time: the claim that after the Big Bang God withdrew from hisotry.."
