Reasonably Priced Italian Fare at Bruno's (Photos)

When people think of Memphis, Italian food may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, there are tons of great restaurants devoted to delicious Italian food, including Bruno's Restaurant. This low-key eatery is gaining quite a following out in the suburbs of the Bluff City, and it really delivers.

The fried ravioli is a standout. Instead of the typical bread crumb coating, this ravioli had a light, almost tempura-like batter. It was crisp, and not at all greasy. With a side salad, it would have made an excellent lunch.

For an entree, the chicken parmigiana sandwich is a great choice. The chicken was moist, juicy, and topped with tangy marinara and melted mozzarella cheese. For an unusual, choose the balsamic marinated asparagus for a side instead of the typical french fries. It's a super-refreshing, topped with tomatoes and makes a great counterpoint for the hearty, stick-to-your-ribs sandwich.

The cannoli cake makes an excellent dessert. It is super rich, decadently creamy and big enough to share. The combination of ricotta cannoli filling, chocolate ganache and orange zest is soul satisfying and a perfect ending to a delicious, simple Italian meal.

Bruno's has an extensive menu of traditional Italian classics. The atmosphere is casual and the prices are reasonable enough, it doesn't even have to be saved for a special occasion.
