After an abrupt cancellation left Drake fans in Philadelphia stunned, on Oct. 21 TMZ reported on the sudden decision. According to sources, it seems that the superstar rapper was concerned a suspended catwalk could potentially fall. The design of the stage had the catwalk perched over the crowd, and it served a central role in the show.
Fans had been waiting for over an hour for the show to start before being told to go home. While disappointing to many, sources state that there was a real concern about an electrical malfunction. Had this occurred, it would have been possible for the catwalk to plummet into the crowd.
Interestingly, it seems that the decision came from Drake himself. The rapper was concerned that a disaster was in the making, and decided to put the safety of fans first. Currently, technicians are working to correct the issue, and there is hope that the tour will be able to continue without anymore technical glitches.
While fans with tickets were disappointed, Rolling Stone reports that the Grammy award winning rapper held an improvised performance at different location.
Do you think Drake made the right choice for cancelling the show?
