Real World: Cancun Analysis: Ins and outs of Joey's return.

  MTV.com

For the last Real World episode, Joey will return to party with the roommates one last time. Episode previews have revealed that it is highly possible that Joey will get intimate with one of the girls in the house. Let's explore the possibilities based off of the history he has had with each of the girls:

Joey and Ayiiia

Ironically, after Joey declared that "Project: Send Ayiiia Home" would torture and harass Ayiiia enough to make her pack her bags and leave the house, he was the one that sent himself home for missing shifts at work. After all of the roommates found out that Ayiiia had serious issues with self-mutilation, Joey was the only person who took it as a joke and told Ayiiia to go cut herself during a heated argument. When Joey got sent home, there was still high tension between he and Ayiiia. Ayiiia felt that it was Karma that sent Joey home. While the roommates mourned his dismissal from the house, Ayiiia gloated. Despite their arguments, these two have a strange (and borderline sado-masochistic) type of sexual tension brewing between them. Here is footage (not shown on the show) of them flirting.

During the after show that aired after the show that revealed Ayiiia's cutting, Joey admitted that he felt Ayiiia was cutting herself to get attention. If Joey and Ayiiia hookup, it will be very strange. They have both had death wishes against one another since Joey spit in Ayiiia's taco.

Joey and Jonna

This is the most likely combination when it comes to Joey's type. Jonna fooled viewers in the beginning with her good girl act and false allegiance to now ex-boyfriend, Matt. Shortly after Joey left, however, Jonna stepped in on Jasmine's crush, Patt (who got more camera time than some of the other guys in the house). It didn't take long before Jonna had broke if off with Matt, had sex with Pat, and participated in a freaky threesome. Joey had his eye on Jonna from the very beginning, and now may be the perfect time for these two to get it on. With their random piercings, wild tattoos, and reckless behavior, Joey and Jonna may be the most perfect - and wildest - match ever.

Joey and Emilee

Remember when Joey rubbed Emilee the wrong way during the first episode when he called Emilee's Hooters customers "creepers?" It seems that Emilee and Joey have had trouble getting along due to Emilee's  sensitivity and jealous manner. Anytime that Joe would bring a female to the house, Emilee was usually the first to call the female names or express how disgusting she found Joey to be. Emily, however, has had men over to spend time with her as well - but this is footage that is not shown on the show. Although it would seem unlikely that Joey would hook-up with Emilee, the Real World dailies have revealed that the two will at least share a kiss...and Joey will claim to not remember any of it.

Joey and Jasmine

Joey has described Jasmine as a sweet little girl who wants love but can never find it. He admitted that he had a soft spot for Jasmine and looked at her as his little sister. Despite all of this, a Real World daily revealed Joey offering sex to Jasmine during her dry spell. Joey would definitely take up an offer to hookup with Jasmine if she let him. In the last episode, however, the hookup probably will not be with Jazzy.

Real World jobs: Are they a set-up?

Nonetheless, Joey's return for the last episode will obviously be exciting for the roommates and viewers. Joey's return the the house, however, makes his dismissal seem quite petty. He obviously did not do anything that bad if he is still allowed to come back and have sex with the roommates one last time.

During the last season (Real World: Brooklyn), many viewers complained that it was not very interesting or attention-getting. The roommates were definitely unique and different individually; however, it seems like the combination of the them together sparked nothing. On that season in particular, however, none of the roommates were required to hold a job while there and no one was sent home. Not that anyone would have cared.

Recently, the Real World jobs have become more of a booby trap and less of a life-changing and positive experience, and the every time that the Real World has a group that has non-stop drama and craziness, it gets cut short by someone getting sent home because of the job that is assigned. It's so ironic that on the one season that no one was really interested in, no one was sent home.

I may just be too lenient, but why on earth did the Real World put these poor people in Cancun with all this access to alcohol just to give them a tight work schedule at a job that no one seemed to like that much?

You've completely mischaracterized Joey's aggression towards Ayiiia.

His "project" wasn't to send her home but to get rid of her. He didn't care how. Towards this end, he chose the means of trying to drive her to hurt herself. He didn't take Aiiia's self-mutilation as a "joke" but as a weakness to exploit. He's never said he thought it was a joke. Why are you saying this? Do YOU think it could be a joke?

His exploitation of her tendencies to self-mutilate did not occur "during a heated argument"; they were out of the blue. And Joey didn't just tell her to cut herself, he put pictures of it up around the house for when she came home. Then, after being sure she was upset first, he approached her and offered her a knife. It was sick.

Joey has not "admitted" he thinks "Ayiiia was cutting to get attention". No one put a gun to his head to admit anything. He's said this repeatedly to excuse the violence of his abusive actions. Professional psychiatric response notwithstanding, he remains to this day completely unapologetic. For you to characterize all this as a "strange (and borderline sadomasicist) type of sexual tension" is beyond forgiveness. You've even misspelled it. To imply Ayiiia is masochistic seems to be another way of blaming her. If you had more experience reading body language, you'd see she's not responding to him sexually in that video. But forget body language, that's always what unapologetic rapists fall back on, notice she told him no over 5 times in that 2 1/2 minute video. To which, Joey assures us, "She's a fighter but I'll get her."

Please reconsider this portion of your article and print a correction. Or, at the very least, better educate yourself about abusers, their behaviour, including warning signs, the personal and societal effects of media blaming victims of such serious mental health issues as self-mutilation and never write a story like this again.
