When most think of a birthday celebration they are thinking drinks with friends, perhaps a vacation, or a night out on the town with friends. Louanna Faine of Real Talk with Louanna decided to break from the normal celebratory festivities and decided to make her birthday weekend one of giving.
Faine will start things off tomorrow with her Getting Real with Domestic Violence event. The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Kays Lamar Boutique located at 2025 W. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85202. Tickets for the event are $5 in advance and $10 at the door with a donation of new or gently used clothes or toiletries. The proceeds will be donated to Family Tree Healthcare.
Faine wants to bring awareness to the sensitive subject of domestic violence. The woman’s empowerment event will feature survivors of domestic violence. The special guest speakers include Jael Mpress Rivera, Marci Batiste, Joya Courtney, Ixchel Nubia, Cynthia Miller, Cibola Henderson, Roosevelt Watts, and Louanna Faine herself. The speakers will be sharing their own experiences with domestic violence.
MysticBlu will be performing her song “I Am” off her recently released album by the same name. The song speaks on gaining power back after a domestic violence situation. DJ J-U-Ice will be providing the music. The event will also be a pampering event with relaxation and a variety of vendors on hand.
Real Talk with Louanna was created in 2011 after Faine graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. The show has been airing for over three years and has become the number one web based television talk show. The one hour broadcast focuses on "Real People, Real Lives, and The Real Truth.”
