But there’s another quite distinct crowd that strolls through The Great Minnesota Get-Together: Car fans. And they’re not looking for the next best thing-on-a-stick. No, car enthusiasts from all over are searching out that new-car smell emanating from multiple dealer lots.

August is traditionally when new vehicles are brought to market, and it’s no coincidence that automotive dealers waste no time in displaying their latest-and-greatest at the fairgrounds. An attractive exhibit can make even the most casual car fan stop by and look around, and that’s precisely the idea.

The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is sure to drive fans to the Chevrolet outdoor display area.

Lucky for us, the all-new midsize truck on display was the real deal, an actual production version. Though it was a day before the start of the fair, Chevy representatives and workers setting up were happy to answer queries about the Colorado, pointing out it was a production model by even looking at the VIN through the windshield.

We were told it was a 4x4 and not much else. By the trim and the options, it looks to us that it was a black Crew Cab LT with a leather and neoprene-looking/cloth seat insert interior. It was an automatic and sported a 255-65-17 wheel and Goodyear tire combination.

Unfortunately, it was locked and there was no window sticker to provide any more equipment details. We also weren’t allowed to open the hood, but more than likely it was outfitted with the 3.6 Liter V6, as most reports show Crew Cabs 4x4s are only available with larger motor.

It is also is surprising to see a standard 4x4 and not the top-of-the-line Z71 model. Historically, fully-loaded models such the Z71 are usually status quo for the fair.

Preliminary pricing has been released with the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado starting at $20,995 including destination charges. More detailed pricing should be made available closer to official release dates.

We did not spy a 2015 GMC Canyon at the fairgrounds.
