A real lightsaber could be the start of some amazing advancements in the science world. On Sept. 27, CBS Boston reported that two scientists who "helped develop real life lightsaber molecules," say that they have found a new form of matter -- something that could change the world -- forever.
Harvard Professor of Physics Mikhail Lukin and MIT Professor of Physics Vladan Vuleti actually created real-life lightsabers -- like the ones from the "Star Wars" movies -- and, along with their incredible success, they may have found the next major advancement that the world needed to move forward with technology.
While a real lightsaber might have your inner nerd geeking out, there is so much more to Lukin and Vuleti's discovery. Both professors feel as though their progress could be one giant leap for mankind -- not that mankind needed it... but imagine, a computer that is super fast... like a blink of an eye fast. "Computers that run at the speed of light instead of electricity would be 10,000 times faster than what we’re used to right now," CBS Boston reports.
Perhaps the technology world is advancing at a steady pace -- but with something like this, the world of technology could jump into the next century sooner rather than later. Kind of cool, right?
