John 14:1-7 (NLT)
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
This is life. Real life. Perhaps you are thinking, really? Is this all that there is to “life”? Maybe life isn’t turning out the way that you imagined. Mine certainly did not in the beginning. I remember sitting at a table in a rundown townhouse listening to my children runaround upstairs staring at a pile of bills and a worn out checkbook overwhelmed and disappointed that all my hopes and dreams had come to this. Little did I know that in the coming year everything would change for the better as I gave my heart back to Jesus Christ, married the man of my dreams and began walking in His Ways, none of this would have been possible if I had given up on life back then. Now as I spend my days seeking the Lord with my whole heart, I find that hopes and dreams that I had given up on long ago are resurfacing and the seemingly impossible becoming mysteriously possible. Why? What made the difference? Jesus did. How cliché that must sound to some people until of course they choose to meet Him face-to-face? Jesus is life. Actually, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. But as I have said before, most people skip over the Way and Truth trying to grab hold of the life part. If you skip a step, you will miss it. Real life is the Plan, Purpose and Potential of God in your life. Sin is killing your dreams and zapping all your strength, but those who choose to seek the Way and Truth will always find Life. His Name is Jesus and He has great things in store for you!
Don’t let your hearts be troubled…trust in God…trust me. Everything is ready. I have a place for you. You will always be with me. You know the way and where I am going. We interrupt the encouragement of Jesus Christ to interject Doubting Thomas…We have no idea where you are going…no we don’t know Lord!” How can this be possible after spending so much time with the Lord? I am not sure, but this is exactly what happened. When things did not meet human expectation it becomes evident whose way that we were after in our response. The disciples did not expect their life to turn out like it did when they followed Jesus Christ. Fishing was the profession of many of the disciples which I am sure was a difficult life…I watch the “Deadliest Catch”. So when the trouble hit and rebellion began and religion came after them – the disciples panicked. This is a natural response to the hardships in life. I know that I have felt this real faith in Jesus Christ.
John 10:9-10 (NLT)
Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Jesus Christ is the Way. He is the only way even though we try to make our way to Him. There are but only two choices in real life. (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) People like options so we created comfortable compromises but when everything falls apart it is God who we blame. It has always been God’s Plan to give us life. He wants to show you the way of life. (Psalm 16:11) He is pursuing you with goodness and mercy. (Psalm 23:6) God’s Favor is reserved for your life. (Psalm 30:4-5) You do not have to walk this natural life out alone. It was never the Lord’s Intention. (Psalm 32:8) God wants to redeem you from the grave. (Psalm 49:15) He wants to renew your life. (Psalm 103:4-6) This is all part of the good plan that He has for you filled with a future and hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) The problem has never been in our destination but rather how we must get there. We want eternal life our way not the God’s Way. It is impossible to achieve such a supernatural life outside of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet still we try. Jesus clearly stated that His Purpose was to give us a rich and satisfying life. Who doesn’t want that? Those who refuse to walk in the Will and Way of God following Jesus Christ, that’s who!
John 3:18-20 (NLT)
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.”
Walking in the Way means loving God’s Light (Jesus) more than the darkness and sin of this world. Do you? I mean really. Do you give more of your time to prime time television than to the Word of God? Do you spend more money on improving your appearance with clothing, creams and gym memberships than tithing to God? Telling people “I love God” and walking through life in love with the Lord are two very different things. I have many acquaintances but few true friends. There are many people who no longer desire a friendship with my husband and me because we do not do the things that we used to do or live like before we came back to Jesus. There is no gray area to hide human weakness. If you are a Child of the Light in love with Jesus Christ, then darkness has no place in your life. Darkness cannot hide past, present or future sins. They will all be exposed in the marvelous light. Life becomes narrow for those who live God’s Way but the potential is massive. (Matthew 7:14) The Highway of Holiness can be a lonely one. (Isaiah 35:8) But if you want real life, abundant life, eternal life, renewing and restoring life, it all must be found in His Way!
Psalm 63:2-4 (NLT)
I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
The Truth of the matter is that the Love of God is better than life…this life. It is real life. This life is brief. (Psalm 90:12) Compared to the potential of our life span, it is short. But if we live only for this life, we will miss eternal life. If you believe in the Son of God as truth, then you will obey Him. This is eternal life to those who walk in His Ways. (John 3:35-36) People live frustrating, empty, disappointing, and disastrous natural lives because they call on the Name of Jesus but have no intention in walking His Way. He will show you the way to life. Once you encounter the Love of God, you will never go back. But you must come to the Lord – mind, soul and body not just as a mouthpiece. He wants to give you life. Jesus died so that you could escape death and the grave forever. To all the frustrated Christians out there, I encourage you to just turn around and follow Jesus. It is that simple. There is nothing in this life better than the Love and Favor of Almighty God available to you His Way. This is the truth. The enemy wants you to think you are missing something but you are not. When it all comes down to it, your natural life is about one choice – life or death. Life leads to the abundance and blessing of God while death leads to the grave. It doesn’t seem like much of a choice, but if that’s the case why do so many people struggle to walk in truth and love found only in Jesus Christ?
Psalm 104:30 (NLT)
When you give them your breath, life is created, and you renew the face of the earth.
God began the generations of people with just one breath. The Breath of Life was given and perpetuated into the people who fill the earth today. (Genesis 7:20) Each person given the ability to recreate life. However, people rebelled early on choosing death over life. God is working to change that decision. God wants to renew your life. Where God’s Breath is, life is created. Satan would like you to think that he can take your life from you but he cannot. (Job 2:6) God put a limit that. Jesus Christ (the Word) came as flesh to renew life and restore people so they could become in right standing with God and live forevermore. When He completed His Task, He ascended to Heaven at the Right Hand of God AND released the Holy Spirit to live in the heart of His People. The Holy Spirit is the renewing, restoring and rejuvenating Breath of God that we need to live supernatural lives and make the Power of God a reality in our life.
2 Corinthians 3:8-10 (NLT)
Shouldn’t we expect far greater glory under the new way, now that the Holy Spirit is giving life? If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way.
Jesus promised a new life. He said that we would become new creations. The Word promises to make all things new. We must learn to walk in His Way and live by the Truth and we will have such a life. We can expect life when the world orders death. The Holy Spirit is the Power of God alive in you. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world. (I John 4:4) God’s Spirit identifies you as a Child of God giving you special privileges found in His Presence that will permeate your life. You have been given a brand new life when God put His Spirit inside of you to lead and guide you. He shows us the way. He confirms the Word of God in our life reinforcing the Truth so that we can have life in a dying world. If you will simply attach the Name of Jesus to every facet of your life, it will be renewed and restored. Release human expectation and put all your faith and trust in the Lord. All of it. Holding nothing back and God’s Best will become a reality in your life. You cannot have it your way! Walking in His Way by faith makes the impossible possible! Allowing the Truth to manifest in your heart and life plants abundance to be harvested as you go! This is life. Real life. His Name is Jesus Christ and He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Psalm 27:4 (NLT)
The one thing I ask of the LORD—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.
